FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

 

RETIREMENT BENEFITS

Provided through the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS). The District is gradually implementing a more cost effective approach toward employee retirement contributions. Employees pay 8% of the employee retirement contributions to CalPERS retirement plan.

The District’s contract with CalPERS includes 3% at 60, 3 year final compensation, and sick leave credit.

Employees hired after January 2013, considered “New Members,” are placed in the 2% at 62 formula and will make employee retirement contributions pursuant to the PEPRA formula.

 

SOCIAL SECURITY

The District participates in Social Security.

 

INSURANCE

Medical insurance will commence the first of the month following 30 days of employment. The scope of coverage and the payment of premiums are subject to periodic review and revision by the Board of Directors.

 

MEDICAL

The District currently pays 100% of the monthly premium for the employee and 70% of all eligible dependents, with 30% dependent coverage currently paid by the employee. The District participates in the Association of California Water Agencies Benefits Program through Blue Cross (Health Maintenance Organization) or Prudent Buyer Plan Classic (Preferred Provider Organization).

 

DENTAL & VISION

Provided by the District through the Association California Water Agencies (ACWA) for employees and their eligible dependents. The District currently pays 100% of the monthly premium for the employees and all eligible dependents.

 

LIFE

The District currently provides an employee life insurance policy in an amount equal to twice the employee’s annual salary. Additional life insurance programs are available for both employees and their dependents through AIG VALIC and New York Life insurance.

 

DEFERRED COMPENSATION

Voluntary employee participation – no District contribution. Two 457 plans are available – AIG VALIC and New York Life Insurance.

 

VACATION

Hours accrue as follows:

0-6 months, 4.5 hours per month, 2.08 per pay period

6 months – 4 years, 9 hours per month, 4.15 hours per pay period

5-9 years, 13.5 hours per month, 6.23 hours per pay period

10-14 years, 18 hours per month, 8.31 hours per pay period

15+ years, 20 hours per month, 9.23 hours per pay period

 

SICK

Accrue 9 hours per month (4.15 hours per pay period).

 

HOLIDAYS

13 holidays per year plus (1) Floating Holiday.
